Contemporary Living Room Diorama- Kirk's Fireplace
I met Kirk and his wonderful wife at a garage sale where some of his work was for sale. Kirk has an amazing amount of woodworking tools, some of which are operated by computer. He can design things on his computer in any scale and use it to cut the parts he needs for any piece of furniture. I asked him to design a fireplace in 1:6 scale for me and you can see what he created below. I really loved this piece from the moment I saw it, especially the copper colored surround. He has created some other really amazing pieces since. His visualization always amazes me. His wife is also very gifted, with a knack for interior decoration and design that makes any room a showpiece.
I had been working on my library when he made this piece for me, so I used a number of the books. I used natural lighting to give it a realistic look and shot at what would be eye level to the dolls.
Here is Poppy posed in front of the fireplace. I created this dress for a contest. The goal was to see what kind of clothing could be made from tissue paper.
