The Antique Booth Diorama
This was my first diorama. It is supposed to be an antique booth at an antique mall. Many of the pieces really are quite old. The African mask is an ivory piece my brother brought back from the Congo many years ago. The elephants belonged to my father. The French country dresser is a vintage piece that I bought in an antique store that specializes in imported French country furniture. (I found it marked down in the bargain section- my daughters could not figure out why I was practically jumping up and down with joy!) Both the mirror on the dresser and the interesting lead box on the shelves are vintage as well. Even older is the dragon chest on the far right of the booth.
Other favorite pieces of mine are the foo dogs, the bone box on the shelves, the little doll, the mandolin, and, surprisingly, the mirror on the wall (which was something I picked up at a thrift shop and was going to get rid of till I saw how well it photographed.) I really enjoyed making this diorama, since I got to show off a lot of pieces from my collection that normally aren't used much.
